Storylines: The Negro Leagues – Season 3 Drop 3, available today, brings 3 Hall of Fame Negro League Legends James “Biz” Mackey, William “Judy” Johnson, and Monford “Monte” Irvin to MLB The Show 25.
Regarded as the Negro Leagues’ premiere catcher throughout the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, James “Biz” Mackey’s defense and throwing arm were rivaled only by his batting capabilities which helped to cement him as one of the Negro League’s all-time leaders in total bases, RBI, and slugging percentage. In his 32-year career in the Negro Leagues, Biz played and coached for such notable teams as the Hilldale Daisies, Pittsburgh Crawfords, and Newark Eagles.
Despite a slight frame and limited power at the plate, William “Judy” Johnson seemed to consistently deliver in the clutch when his teams needed it the most. As a 3rd baseman, Johnson was regarded as one of the best in Negro League’s history and played on one of the greatest teams in baseball history, the 1935 Pittsburgh Crawfords. The Hilldale Daisies and Homestead Grays also benefited from Judy’s talents during his 17-season spanning career as a player with the Negro Leagues.
Before making the leap from the Negro Leagues to the MLB, Monford “Monte” Irvin was a 5-tool superstar in the Negro Leagues with Newark – leading the Eagles to a Negro Leagues World Series championship in 1946. Although Irvin was 30-years-old when he finally got his chance to play Major League Baseball in 1949, “Monte” rose to the occasion, becoming the first Black player to lead the National League in RBIs in 1951 and helping the New York Giants claim the 1954 World Series.
Experience the historic careers of James “Biz” Mackey, William “Judy” Johnson, and Monford “Monte” Irvin in Storylines: The Negro Leagues – Season 3 Drop 3 only available in MLB The Show 25.
