April Spotlight Series Lightning Corbin Carroll Blazes in MLB The Show 25

May 6th, 2025

The Arizona Diamondbacks Corbin Carroll put on an electric performance this April, making him a shoo-in for the April Spotlight Lightning Player position. Carroll ended the month of April as one of the Top 5 home run leaders for the National League, along with 22 RBIs and a 1.8 fWAR. And if those numbers weren’t impressive enough, he set a record for quickest home-to-third time in the MLB at 11.02 seconds, then went on to break his own record with a 10.87-second time in the same game.

If you’re looking to add Lightning Corbin Carroll to your Diamond Dynasty squad, you’ll need to complete April Spotlight Programs – Drops 1 through 5 and collect each of the Spotlight program players (Jordan Westburg, Trent Grisham, Kyren Paris, Rhys Hoskins, & Wyatt Langford) in the Spotlight Series April Lightning Collection only available in MLB The Show 25.

April Retro Lightning – Carlos Santana

As if one Lightning Player wasn’t enough, we’ve also got the April Retro Lightning Player Carlos Satana to add a bit more boom to your Diamond Dynasty squad. In April 2013, Santana led the MLB with a .389 AVG and a wRC+ of 231.

To add Retro Lightning Carlos Santana to your lineup, collect 13 April Spotlight Pack players in the Spotlight Series Retro Lightning Collection.

Upcoming changes to Weekend Classic 2

The team has been hard at work processing and iterating on the community’s feedback in preparation for the second Weekend Classic, opening on May 9th.

Matchmaking:

In Weekend Classic 2, players will only be matched with others in their league, unless they reach the maximum queue time — at which point they may be bumped up or down one division.

Difficulty:

Difficulties will be locked once players are placed in a league, regardless of the player or opponent’s current ELO. So, for the entire Weekend Classic, players should compete on the same difficulty — unless queue times become too long, as mentioned earlier.

Leaderboards:

Players will be correctly placed into a 100-player leaderboard at the start, and that leaderboard remains the same for the entire duration.

Rating:

The rating changes used to rank the leaderboard will now correctly add rating for wins and subtract rating for losses.

Also note: If players haven’t played a ranked game yet in season 2, they will be placed in Bronze 1.

We hope you enjoy the changes made to Weekend Classic. We are committed to refining the mode with community input in mind to keep the competition engaging and fair. Thank you for all your support.
