10 Things to do on Launch Day

April 20th, 2021

MLB The Show 21 has arrived, and your digital baseball season starts now. Everyone at San Diego Studio is excited for our fans to get their hands on MLB The Show 21 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and for the first time Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, but where do you even start? Well, we have some suggestions on things to do in-game as well as out of the game to provide the best experience possible as you work your way to the Postseason and try to win a World Series.

Build Your Dream Stadium in Stadium Creator

Baseball stadiums have been given nicknames of cathedrals and shrines, and here is your chance to build your own park and share it with the world. Jump right into Stadium Creator, the next-gen exclusive feature, and either use a template and modify it. Add your personal touch to the existing stadiums, or start with a field with basic walls and let your imagination take control. Looking to bring your creation online? Save and upload it to the vault. Looking to create the perfect field for a competitive game? There are 150 wall presets that you can choose, but don’t move the outfield wall distances or heights, or else it will invalidate the stadium for competitive online play. We can’t wait to see what you create, so make sure to post it online and use the hashtag #mytheshowstadium. Looking for more details? Check out the Next-Gen Feature Premiere to hear more about how Stadium Creator works and how our team brought it to life in MLB The Show 21.

Try the all-new Pinpoint Pitching mechanic

Become a pitching ace by mastering the sticks with the all-new Pinpoint Pitching. Every type of pitch has its own controller movement, and each pitcher has unique timing. While challenging, Pinpoint Pitching is the most accurate pitching mechanic in MLB The Show 21! Learn all about Pinpoint Pitching in the Pitching & Hitting Feature Premiere.

Create your Ballplayer

For the first time, take your Ballplayer from Road To The Show and use him in other game modes. Mix and match loadouts to get the most out of your Ballplayer on the diamond. Let’s not forget, new to MLB The Show 21, dominate as both a pitcher AND a hitter now that your Ballplayer can be a 2-way star!

Unlock rewards in the 1st Inning Program in Diamond Dynasty

Diamond Dynasty** is the ultimate interactive fantasy baseball experience. You build, play, and collect with player items that look like baseball cards. You can add current players to your squad like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Bryce Harper, or find the legendary stars from 100 years of baseball history such as Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron and so many more!

Start in the 1st Inning Program by looking at the tasks for Moments, Missions, Conquest and Collections. Rewards unlock when you earn XP by playing games anywhere in MLB The Show 21. Play against online opponents** OR face computer-controlled teams in single-player modes. The best part of Diamond Dynasty – the Live Content Team will add more programs and rewards throughout the MLB season, including Roster Updates where player attributes can move up and down – even to that sparkling Diamond tier! Watch the Diamond Dynasty Feature Premiere to hear the strategy different developers plan to take when starting out.

Join a Custom League

Whether you enjoy fierce competition or something a little more relaxed, join a Custom League** with up to 30 players for some online fun. Choose between two types of leagues in The Show 21:

  • The 40-Man Live MLB Leagues use the active 40-man rosters of all 30 teams that are updated frequently throughout the year. If you’re not happy with your current roster, try making some trades!
  • Diamond Dynasty Collection Leagues allows you to use your entire Diamond Dynasty Collection of player items to build your lineup. Commissioners can even set restrictions on team overalls to keep things even.

The fun doesn’t stop there! All Leagues offer a Regular Season experience that builds to a Postseason Playoff bracket ending with the World Series. If you didn’t make the Postseason cutoff this season, don’t sweat it. With no limit on the number of seasons your league can play, there’s always “next year.”. Looking for a Custom League to join? Check out the MLB The Show Forums or head over to the MLB The Show Discord.

Build up your skills in the revamped Practice Mode

You can practice hitting high heaters and throwing sweeping curveballs with Pinpoint Pitching in Practice Mode’s new custom options. In MLB The Show 21, to practice hitting, you can choose a pitcher, pitch type and pitch location. Set it to high and in fastballs, or low and away changeups. It’s a great warm-up exercise before diving into daily games. Try out every pitcher’s arsenal and the new Pinpoint Pitching mechanic here first. Make sure you have the stick moves down and timing dialed in so you can dot the corners against your opponents.

Put an item on the Community Market

MLB The Show 21 has an entire online market** for you to buy and sell cards and items allowing you to earn Stubs. Open a pack and have cards you don’t want? Put them on the Community Market. Have an item you have duplicates of? Do a quick-sell or set your own price. Don’t forget to redeem the Roberto Clemente pack for a limited time until April 26 in the Show Shop, and add him to your Diamond Dynasty squad.
