Rickwood Field, the oldest professional ballpark in the United States and former home of the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues, is the site of a special Regular Season contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants on June 20, 2024. The Negro Southern League Museum is dedicated to telling the story of African American baseball, as well as its impact on the game of baseball and the fabric of American society. Located in Birmingham AL., home of the Birmingham Black Barons and Rickwood Field, the Negro Southern League Museum is the preeminent source for perspective on the Negro Southern Leagues and the black players who got their start there. Hilton Smith, Leroy “Satchel” Paige, and Willie Mays, just to name a few, all began their baseball careers as part of the Negro Southern Leagues and you can learn all about these players, and others, at the Negro Southern League Museum.
